About

"Anfibio" sofa bed designed by Alessandro Becchi for Giovannetti Collezioni in the 1970s in original leather. The convertible sofa can be unfolded or opened flat, revealing its luxuriously soft sheepskin mattress bed. This Italian convertible leather sofa is a collectors item which due to its rarity and demand is a highly sought after piece by interior designers and collectors alike. This daybed would work great in a Postmodern, Mid-Century Modern, Scandinavian Modern or Danish modern home or penthouse apartment but could also look fantastic in a contemporary or Zen / Minimalism room. Also consider mixing it up in a traditional, transitional, classical or Art Deco room with a splash of juxtaposition. Would also be an apt choice in a commercial project such as a hotel lobby lounge or members club, creative design studio or high-rise executive office. Works wonderful as a sofa, couch, daybed, bedroom bed or sleeper-sofa, guest room bed and seating, or for an executive office for those late night work sessions. In 1972, the Anfibio was selected for the collection of the Museum of Contemporary Art MOMA in New York and in following years twelve other contemporary art and design museums around the world.
