After serving in the Marine Corps, he graduated from the University of Texas with a BFA. He began his career in advertising and was one of Houston’s foremost artists, photographers, instructors, graphic designers, and creative explorers. He taught classes and led workshops at the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston as well as Rice University where he served as an assistant professor from 1960 to 1972.
