Gorgeous black, pink and red abstract acrylic painting by Karen Lastre titled "Series-Connection Sounding II Trinity + One" done in the style of Mark Rothko. This piece was originally started in 2002 but completed in 2003 at her studio in Houston, TX. Signed in lower right corner with title and additional information on reverse.

Artist Biography

Karen Lastre was born in St. Paul, MN in 1940. She moved to Texas in 1965 where she began to work as a painter in 1969. She has been influenced by the color field abstract expressionist works like Mark Rothko. Her work has been purchased by private collectors throughout the United States and Europe. In 1994 she was a Merit Award at the Cheekwood Museum of Art in Nashville. She worked in a studio in Mid-Town at Art Square Studios. She showed her work in Dallas at the Mary Tomas Gallery where she had a individual show in 2011. She has recently passed in 2018.
