About

Large contemporary abstract painting with geometric aspects by Houston, Texas artist Elva Stewart. Colorfield painting with alternating purple and yellow vertical stripes. This work resembles Carlos Cruz-Diez's work that are based on the moiré effect, in which lines of contrasting color give the impression of movement. Stewart is a contemporary artist who is known for experimenting with lines. She forms lines to make multi-dimensional geometric shapes on a flat surface. The canvas is signed by the artist on the back. Currently displayed in a black floating frame.
