Artist Biography

Kalman (Koloman) Vecsey (1925-1996)- Born in 1925 Mocolo, Hungary Vecsey was left as an orphan and raised by his grandparents. His first one man show took b=place in 1948 in his home town, followed by other yearly exhibits in other cities. After gaining some freedom from the Russian led communist rule and nine months in jail, Vecsey established a studio in his home town of Sajoszentpeter. His painting were sold through a marketing and manufacturing company. Although Vecsey had a few exhibitions of his own art in London England, he depended predominantly on this type of marketing. His painting styles ranged from realistic to post-impressionist style, reminiscent of classical Dutch landscape artists. Almost all of his subjects were landscapes, and hunting and country scenes and often had horses. However he also painted portraits, flowers and still life. He was a lover of nature, people and animals, a quiet natured, humble and tolerant person. Ironically he became a devout "anti-militarist after" graduating from a military academy as a cavalry officer.
