Artist Biography

René Marie Dujardin (Antwerp 1913-2002) was a Belgian painter, draughtsman, watercolourist and etcher. He was educated at the Academy in Antwerp and the Higher Institute in Antwerp under the direction of A Saverijs, Is Opsomer and Herman Courtens. Neo-impressionist painter, from the sea and the port. Often works along the Scheldt and in the South of France, England and Greece. His paintings are imbued with a maritime atmosphere. After processing of the influence of his teacher I. Opsomer, he develops a strong individual, decorative style in soft and rich colouring. Mentioned in the Belgian art books. International well-known painter.
